Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: July 2026Welcome to Ride The Hills. By booking a vehicle with us, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of rental. Please read them carefully.
1. Driving License & Documentation
- Age Restrictions: The renter must be at least 18 years old to rent a scooter, and 21 years old to rent motorcycles or cars.
- License Requirements: A valid, original Indian Driving License is mandatory. For bikes, an MCWG (Motorcycle With Gear) license is required. For cars, an LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) license is required.
- Identity Verification: An original Government ID (Aadhar Card, Passport, or Voter ID) must be submitted at the time of vehicle pickup.
2. Security Deposit
- Handover Condition: A fully refundable security deposit is required for all vehicle rentals prior to handover.
- Clear Communication: The deposit amount varies depending on the vehicle category and will be clearly communicated during the WhatsApp booking process.
- Instant Liquidation: The deposit will be refunded instantly via UPI or bank transfer upon the safe and undamaged return of the vehicle.
3. Fuel Policy
- Dry Lease Framework: We operate on a "Dry Lease" policy. Vehicles are provided with a minimum reserve fuel level—enough to reach the nearest petrol pump in Shillong comfortably.
- Renter Accountability: The renter is responsible for all fuel expenses during the rental period.
- Surplus Policy: No refunds will be provided for excess fuel left in the tank at the time of return.
4. Damage & Liability
- Custody Responsibility: The renter is entirely responsible for the vehicle during the rental period.
- Assessment Structure: In the event of an accident, scratch, or damage to the vehicle, the repair costs will be deducted from the security deposit. If the damage exceeds the deposit amount, the renter is legally liable to pay the remaining balance for repairs as quoted by an authorized service center.
- Indemnity Clause: Ride The Hills is not responsible for any personal injury, loss of life, or damage to the renter's personal luggage during the trip.
5. Riding Restrictions & Late Returns
- Geographic Boundaries: Vehicles are meant to be driven within the state of Meghalaya. If you plan to cross state borders (e.g., into Assam), explicit prior written permission must be obtained from us.
- Night Operation Safety: Night driving on highways outside Shillong city limits is highly discouraged due to extreme fog and safety hazards.
- Delay Penalty Matrix: A grace period of 1 hour is provided for vehicle returns. Delays beyond this will incur additional hourly or full-day charges, depending on the length of the delay.
